But I was so hooked, that I had fun in the process. finally worked up the courrage to try online play (for the first time in my life) with the GPG.net client.
So I grabbed Forged Alliance (which was already out) and was instantly hooked, played against AI alot.
My annoyance at the supposed misdirection quickly turned to awe as it dawned on me (with casts and replays vids) that I was seeing in game action 100% and that on top of all this the reason the battles looked so convincing was that all the projectiles were being simulated and that each unit was it's own entity. Then I finally found the Supreme Commander ad on youtube (I think it had been out for a year already) and my first impression was 'ugh so tired of ads not showing the real game!', I couldn't believe they were actually showing all the projectiles and that they all looked so real and that there were that many units. All of which were pretty much instantly 'not it' for me. I foraged youtube, I found all the Red Alerts, a bunch of unrealateds like 'Nexus: the Jupiter Incident', and EvE Online. I started to feel desperate that nothing would feel as good. I'd been looking for a new RTS after completing Homeworld/Homeworld 2. This question will require a bit of exposition/reading to make sence, so here's my background :
